AIFA Membership
Recruitment Information
Aggies in Foreign Affairs accepts membership applications from undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and classifications. At the start of each semester, AIFA sends out an application form through social media, our Linktree, emails, and flyers. To partake in AIFA's mentorship program, it is recommended to apply in the fall semester. For any questions, please reach out to aggiesinforeignaffairs@gmail.com.
Membership Requirements
AIFA members are required to participate in at least 1 general, social, and professional event each semester. All members are expected to remain in good academic standing, with undergraduates maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or above and graduate members maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above. General and Committee Members enjoy an exclusive database with 100+ industry opportunities including internships, fellowships, scholarships, and more. AIFA does not charge dues, and membership and organization events are free for students to partake in.
Membership Types
In order from least to most commitment
Mailing List
Mailing List members receive monthly emails pertaining to AIFA updates and programs. Mailing List members are not obligated to partake in AIFA general and social meetings and do not receive priority registration for AIFA professional events.
General Membership
General Members must attend at least 1 monthly general and social meeting and at least 1 professional event each semester, of which 4 are offered throughout the school year. After Committee Members, General Members receive priority registration for AIFA professional events.
Events Committee
In addition to the requirements of General Members, Events Committee Members must partake in at least 90% of their monthly committee meetings. Events Committee Members assist AIFA Executive Leadership organize and moderate the Global Student Dialogue in the fall semester and Career Speaker Series in the spring semester. Events Committee Members receive priority registration for all AIFA professional events. The Events and Editorial Committees both require equal levels of commitment, and no Committee is more intensive than the other.
Editorial Committee
Beyond the requirements of General Members, Editorial Committee Members must partake in at least 90% of their monthly committee meetings. During the fall semester, Editorial Committee Members become certified peer reviewers through a self-paced course taught by senior academic editors at leading journals. In the spring semester, Editorial Committee Members begin reviewing their assigned manuscript(s). Editorial Committee Members receive priority registration for all AIFA professional events.
